A) As long as you had the aftermarket items endorsed on the policy and as long as your insurance policy covers customizations (the majority do not), then you'll be fine.

Car borken into and have comprehensive Insurance?

Q) Recently my car was broken into while we were asleep. They broke my passenger window, actually bent the surroundings of the window frame, stole my stereo, rip my dash, took my digital camera( which i'm really not worrying about b/c I have the pics stored on my computer). I filed a police report and insurance claim. The adjuster have already came out to take a look at the car. What will my insurance cover and what's next? I never had to file an insurance claim

A) The damages to the vehicle will be covered under your comprehensive minus your deductible. The camera is not a part of your vehicle so there is no coverage for the camera under an auto policy. If it is an expensive camera and you have homeowners or renters insurance you would be able to claim the camera under that policy. You should call the adjuster and speak with them. They will be able to tell you whether they have to total it or if they are sending you a check. When you are dealing with your own insurance company it usually doesn't take long before you receive payment.

Injured in car accident & pregnant what would you do?

Q) I had a car accident a couple of days ago. My hand is broken and my leg was hurt by hitting the dash. The car is totalled. Thankfully, my two kids weren't with me but I am about 23 weeks pregnant. Baby seems ok on sonogram but I have bruising on my stomach from the seat belt and airbags. I had trouble getting a ortho doc to cast my hand because none like my insurance provider..so it has been in a split since the ER. I've been limping around trying to take care of two young kids/keep house. Hubby can't take time from work & relatives also work. I confided in my aunt (only relative that doesn't work) and she said "life sucks then you die"...also to "buck up" and "it isn't the end of the world" so what was my problem. I wasn't expecting "poor baby" but it hurt. She also said I couldn't cry and it wasn't the end of the world when our other son died. I griped to hubby about it and he chewed her out. I wasn't trying to play any1 against any1...but she says I am. Should I apologize??

A) You should ABSOLUTELY NOT apologize. One thing you should learn is never to confide in her again! What an insensitive woman!! Has she ever had kids herself? How could she tell you it's not the end of the world when your child passed? I'm sure she's had some hardships in her life that are making her say that but she seems like a very cold-hearted woman. I'm sure you have a friend you could talk to when you feel you need to and maybe you could hire a babysitter to help you while you're in pain? Also try calling your insurance company and ask for a doctor who accepts your insurance. Good luck to you and things will be fine!

How to make a salvage car title clear?

Q) My car was stolen from me and recovered with no damage except for a completely destroyed interior. Everything from the seats, carpet, dash, etc. needed to be replaced by the insurance company. The cost to do this exceeded that of the car so they in turn totaled it. I decided to by the car back and fix it up on my own. Sounded like a great idea at the time. But now 6 months down the road I want a new car and need to sell this one. This car now has a "rebuilt" title due to the insurance company totaling it and I am finding it very hard to sell because no one will even look at it because it says "salvage." Now I do not want to fraud anyone in any shape, way or form and plan on disclosing the cars history to every potential buyer. I just merely want the title to appear clear so people will at least take a look at a car that has been well taken car of, runs great, never been in a crash and get a reasonable amount for it. Note: title was clear before i

A) You cannot get a clear title on the car. Be specific when selling and say why the title is salvaged. Get proof from the insurance company of the damage to prove it was all interior. I would not wait to disclose that it has a salvaged title right before you sell the car, I would walk away from a deal if the selling told me right before I was about to buy a car that it was salvaged. Be honest and upfront and again, have proof that it was only interior damage.

A) you can't change the salvage status. be prepared to take a beating on the sale price. Your best bet is to get a title search to show prospective buyers that you were the owner, it was stolen and gutted, returned to you and you've rebuilt the interior. Police report to show the missing interior description and maybe some photos.

Mercedes SLK 320 electrical fire - no warrenty - no compehensive insurance - Is there anything I can do :(?

Q) Hi, today my Mercedes caught fire under the drivers side dash, destroying most of the drivers side area, entire dash, windshields any just a mess. I only has liability insurance and my warrenty is up. The fire came out of no where - I was in the car - the smoke started coming from the vents, it was really hard to breath but I tried to turn the car off. It did not turn off even when I took out the key. I got out of the car and popped the hood, I disconnected the battery to try to turn off the car. It continued running. I got back in the car and tried to move it out of gear to turn it off but I could not. The smoke became so overwhelming I had to get out of the car. Right after I got out the drivers side area engulfed with flames. The only noticible thing I can think of is over the last month a couple of strange electrical things happened - first my locks started locking and unlocking by themselves sometimes, then my lights did not turn off when I turned them off & my radio died

A) So you noticed electrical problems occurring and took no action to correct the problem and now are looking for someone to blame for your own negligence? Maybe you can get lucky if there was a recall notice out for whatever caused this problem. I truly am sorry for your misfortune, but you have to be responsible for yourself and your stuff. Most people don't understand that if they can't afford to replace their car they should carry Comprehensive Insurance. Its much cheaper than buying a new ride.

lawsuit question?

Q) i was in a vehicle with a friend and was hit by another car it hurt me in the wreck (but didnt do much to the car) i was thrown into the dash causing whiplash. the ambulance had to take me to the E.R and i was released and has to attend physical therapy for a couple of weeks bc of the knots in my back and all that and i had a total of $3,600 in medical bills. my attorney started working on my case back in january when it happend. the other car was a rental car so he had to sue the rental insurance. im still waiting for my settlement money. the attorney said the insurance place has an offer of $5,000. should this be the appropriate amount or should i be entitled to more? i miss lots of school due to this and lost my credits so i cant graduate with the rest of the class. is this a fair amount? i had huge knots in my back and they had to put this heat laser thing on there that loosens them up. the doctor told me to go to the physical therapy..my back still hurts all the time from it

A) I need to know more about your case to determine whether this is a fair offer. What state do you live in? If you live in IL, then the pictures of the car you were in showing no damage may or may not get into evidence (judge's discretion due to the Diconsola and Ferro Cases). If the pictures get into evidence in your state then this will greatly hurt your case at trial. Also, why is your attorny just suing the rental car. He should also be suing your friend's insurance (assuming he had insurance). Did the other driver have car insurance other than the rental insurance? Medically speaking, what was your injury diagnosed as? Did you have a fracture of any kind or were there any positive findings on an x-ray or mri? Did you miss any work at all or were you just a student? The missed school and not being able to graduate goes towards "loss of a normal life." Did you miss out on any other types of activities or hobbies? How much pain and suffering did you have? I can't begin to guess what your caseis worth without knowing the ful picture. The liability may be bad or risky, for whatever reason. You may live in a jurisdiction where the jury sees those pictures. 10 times medical is ludacris! In IL, a good settlement is usually 3 times specials. Specials is all your actual damages added together (medical bills, lost wages, property damage).

question about my lawsuit from an automobile accident?

A) Would $5000 even cover your attorney fees and your medical bills? Is this the first settlement the insurance has offered? If it will pay both, you may be better off just ending it as insurance companies do everything in their power to run your lawyers bill up. But, if it is the first offer, you might want to hold out for a little longer and see what the next one is.
